I start each piece slowly, steadily, and with bad posture. One line and dot at a time, my passion drives my patience to get there. I am defined by everything I have touched, tasted, seen and dreamt, but I am made out of everything I have created.
In my mind, I sit in, under and above each piece as I work. I climb the branches to see what the view looks like from up high and follow the trunk into the ground. I pause in the space of impression to capture something in myself, and when each tree is complete a part of me is pressed into the inked energy of my expression.
I offer fine art drawings, mixed media reproductions and limited edition prints.
Unique reproduction Laser etching on reclaimed bamboo 9 x 11 Description: Structured, beautiful chaos lives in the trunk of me. The only thing consistent is the energy - an uncontrolled surge sprouting, growing and absorbing everything around me. I am passionate, I am driven. Assiduous pen strokes reward my diligence. My story is my art. I am art.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: The violet tree is faithful, tied to a union of love, humility and sincerity. In this piece, my arm links with another, joining February and its brevity of touch.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: January is scaffolding made of bones, molding our beginnings as Nature grows its flesh onto our unique selves. I am standing tall, embracing the breeze.
Carving an Artist Series Archival fine tip black ink on watercolour paper 15 x 22 Description: There isn't a tree I cannot see through as I weave in and out of the evergreens. They grow on the side of the hill in pockets of powder; snow shimmering with weightless branches. This is my road, my velvet path, smoothing my ride, going this way.
Fine tip black ink pen on watercolour paper 12 x 17 Description: The community we create is the embrace we share Our gifts compliment our unique fanfare, Shining together with love and embrace A movement we carve with light and grace; Meeting new friends, finding old souls Finding meaning and chance in similar roles; Such a striking resemblance all that is kind, Such a blessing to share all that we find.
Carving an Artist Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: I am living my dream, travelling the west. My views are these ubiquitous, stoic trees, traversing back through the wilds of unencumbered scale. My sublime vista is playful and poetic, and I bask in the girth of the redwood.
Carving an Artist Series Black ink on watercolour paper 17 x 24 Description: The air we breathe begins in life’s underground in the chest of the earth. Oxygen seeps from the pores of the skin of roots coiling above ground. The scentless breath fills the capillaries of tree branches reaching up to the light, sprouting tiny buds to produce a bouquet of life’s bounty.
Carving an Artist Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: This piece is my childhood. Spending every summer at the family cottage in Tobermory, my roots are among rocks and a limestone escarpment.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: In its magic, we find poise. December is intuition and inner wisdom. Celebrating a willow tree, I am healing myself with gifts of family bliss. I am wrapped in the dangling leaves primed with insight.
Carving an Artist Series Black ink on watercolour paper 15 x 22 Description: Licking the heels of accomplishment with unrefined intelligence, I crawled around this piece on my hands and knees. I found something interesting; something that mirrored an absurd peace, dangling from the nodules of nature’s skin. I am grateful for my lessons.
Carving an Artist Series Black ink on watercolour paper 15 x 22 Description: In these concentrated outlines that shade and shape the crevices encircling my eyes, I peer out through my body. The door leading into my house takes you into my mind; these are the leaves of the canopy that build my home. Step inside: I invite you to see what I see.

Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: As the sacred month for Venus, Roman goddess of love, April is a month of escape and restoration. I am inspired by the different way each palm tree discards their bark, bootstraps and leaves.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: The spruce tree is an armored shell. Surrounded by seasonal elements, the Canadian conifer sways to the dramatic beat of winter’s pulse. Mars, Roman god of war, is associated with March, and, in his resilient exterior, he is shielded.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: There is history here. October is associated with impermanence and awareness. Finishing this piece last, I struggled with the weight of its sentiment personally and symbolically for this project as a whole. October is breast cancer awareness month, and, in my research, it is a month of listening. The yew tree chose me, and I lifted its veil of skin in order to hear properly.
End of Season Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: Windswept. This is my Mother's tree.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: A flowering elegance is present within us in June, as we are led into the longest days of the year. I am inspired by the apple tree flowering and the hazel tree blooming. I am also enamoured with the fragrance of the lilac tree after it has rained. This piece captures these trees in their full light. Named after Juno, the Roman chief goddess, June celebrates the joys of the hearth.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: A pear, lilac and maple tree enmesh into one. July is a woman: her arms outstretched, her feet firmly planted by the shore.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x Description: The vitality of life permeates this oak tree. May welcomes the sun and shines golden light through her finger branches. In her grace, May is the goddess of fertility.
Carving an Artist Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: My story is unlevel but perfectly stable. Roots are jutting out of the ground in a mass of tangled limbs. Leaves are growing, falling and blowing around; there is not one distinct season, but multiple seasons at play. When it hails it is hot and sunny and when the air is cool and dry, bright elegant flowers grow to the size of trees before they blossom, lose their petals and die. Life here
Black ink on watercolour paper 8 x 10 Description: In the arms of ourselves we are angels.
End of Season Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: Deciduous, watchful eye.
Sacred Worship Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: At the height of our awakening, we have climbed to our summit, decorated with knowledge, wisdom and experience. Here, our agile minds are most alive as we revel in the cavities of our core. We ease into our descent as bodies, once big and strong, now provide only shelter. I am inspired by decay.
Carving an Artist Series Archival fine tip black ink on cotton canal jute paper 15 x 22 Description: The spruce tree combines these memories of home and their smells of burning wood, wet rocks and sodden earth. Specifically, the black spruce tree has been a pictorial companion since those listless days of my youth.
